The approval for the go ahead of the Orange line has brought a big boost to the Bangkok property. The construction budget of 82 billion Thai baht has been approved by the cabinet which links the Orange line electric train from Thailand Culture Center to Min Buri in the eastern district of Bangkok. It is expected the bidding process will be completed in June.
The cabinet has given the Mass Rapid Transport Authority of Thailand (MRTA) to go-ahead to build the proposed 21.2 kilometer Orange Line at a cost of 82.9 billion baht. This was said by the Transport Minister, ArkhomTempittayapaisith, whom also said the cabinet instructed MRTA to gather bids to find contractors by June so construction can begin within 2016.
94% of the materials and equipment will be sourced locally while 6% of the materials will be imported (e.g. elevators). Several transport infrastructure projects are currently ongoing and the Orange Line is one of them. The plan of the government by approving the Orange Line is to ease heavy traffic and as well stimulating economic growth.
